Roc Nation has become one of the largest entertainment companies in the world. Roc Nation is known for its production of famous musicians and athletes such as Tony Allen, Jay Z, and Rihanna. Perez has been with the company since its small beginning. Desiree Perez has worked in an abundance of departments within the company. While learning the ins and outs of the company, she had the chance to watch the company evolve to what it is today. In 2019, Jay Z made Perez the founder of the company.
Although Perez’s role has changed, her main focus is still to bring positivity and light to the company, and through the company, to the world. Perez was appointed as CEO of Roc Nation after working as the COO for ten years. Her role remained very similar, but she did value the change in her title and official job description.
Perez has focused on making short-term, as well as long-term, goals, and plans for the company. With the recent events concerning COVID, Perez had to change her focus and planning. With Perez’s lead, the company explored innovative ways to keep their artists relevant and supported.
Social justice is also one of the main pillars of Roc Nation. This has still remained a priority for Perez. Roc Nation has supported families that have been affected by police brutality. Roc Nation has also created a scholarship program for students of color who cannot attend college because of financial reasons. Within the near future, Desiree Perez hopes to continue her legacy by lifting up other women of color.
